WHAT IS THIS???
This poster describes a new addition to Dallas County 9-1-1's ability to communicate with Dallas County! It will be useful if you are hiding from someone and need to contact help without making any noise! It will be useful if you are trying to get help but are in a very noisy area, and cannot be easily heard!
Oftentimes a text can be delivered successfully when a phone call cannot when too many people are trying to make cell phone calls at the same time.
This is an enhancement to Dallas County 9-1-1. It is COMPLETELY different from Swift911 which was talked about above. Texting is a direct communication between you and 9-1-1. Swift911 does NOT go through Dallas County 9-1-1, it is managed by Dallas County Emergency Management. It is a way to send one message to multiple people at the same time. This could provide possibly life saving information to many people at the same time - within one minute or two!
